Lengthening rear driveshaft

Default Lengthening rear driveshaft

Well my wife bought wheeling rig with a transfer case drop installed if i take the transfercase drop off and lengthen the shaft will this work almost like a sye for now or am i setting myself up for disaster. Specs on the new jeep
94 xj
5.5 inch lift
231 transfer case
8.25 rear
D44 front

No... the tcase drop isn't there because of a length problem its there to put a better driveline angle. If you want to take off the tcase drop you need a slip yolk eliminator or a hack n tap kit

Would also like to see pics of this 44 front... itd be very rare if they swapped only the front axle... but i do believe 44 fronts came in some south american xjs, dont quote me on that

Cool! thats the only thing I was thinking it might be. But if this is a trail only rig and wont be seeing any street time. I would say as long as the driveshaft isnt falling out at full flex I wouldn't even bother with a sye kit. If it is to short just lengthen or get a sye whichever is cheaper. You might get vibes from your driveshaft but you'll never know if you're keeping it on the trails

Its mainly a trail rig with a few days maybe of street driving a month i mainly wanna know if i do this will it mess anything else up thats all

as rod stated tc drop is to lesson angles really should leave it in or sye and xj front shaft then remove and measure for rear shaft

The sye is a future mod thats gonna get done but a freind has a 3inch longer shaft that he had made that he's giving us so i figured id ask as its free and seeing as we gotta save up for the sye
