Check to see if its damp/moist at the front of the pumpkin, right where the driveshaft connects. If so, its a bad pinion seal.

Wouldn't be the first time I seen that. The axle tubes are pressed in the center then plug welded in those holes. My guess is there is a pinhole in one of the welds letting lube go thru. Brake clean the crap out JB weld the holes, just a smear works. You can see lube creeping out between the tube and center too. Is the diff vent plugged letting pressure build up in there?

wow, that seems like a ridiculous design from chrysler? do I need jb weld the holes and around where the tube meets the pumpkin? Do I need to worry about this falling apart? I couldnt see where the diff vent is located, where should I look?

Thanks for the help on this once guys

It's been a common practice for most all makers to put their diffs together like that. Been doing it for decades and are still doing it. It won't fall apart, just be a leaking nuisance.

The vent is on the drivers side tube with a hose on it that should be clipped to the frame someplace.

I'd clean it up like was mentioned, and keep a good eye on that brake line.
