Ok, how much work is it to replace a rear main seal on a 98 4.0 with an auto?
Please tell me they are one piece and you can just slip the tranny back to install....Please! It is weeping now, not yet a real leak.
Also, does a 4" lift require SYE and a driveline change

As far as your lift question, probably will need the SYE kit. You have a 98 and the 97's and newer are more prone to driveline vibs due to the t-case changes in those years. Good Luck!!

my rear main seal was leaking a while back, but seems to have fixed itself. i have heard it's quite a common thing to happen on these 4.0 motors. also, ive seen people fix it and then it will still leak. a shop will probly charge you quite a bit for labor on account of them having to drop your oil pan and what not.
