Default leaking noise from the engine

After I turn off my 2001 XJ sport, I can hear a sound from the engine that sounds like running water (not very loud, you have to be listening for it to hear it), is that normal, or is my engine about to blow up? Thanks.

Isn't it just oil running back into the pan or some fluid just draining back to where it came from? I am no expert, but your engine isnt going to blow on you

Both my XJs make the same sound after they're turned off. That's completely normal. I think it has something to do with the radiator overflow tank getting filled with a little extra coolant in the system. I may be wrong, but it's definitely something having to do with the cooling system. Don't be worried or suprised when you hear it, it's just one of the many "cool" sounds XJs make hahaha

Its the oil dripping down from the rest of the engine into the pan. All engines do this, especially inline type engines.

same thing everyone else has said, oil draining back to the pan.

If you do your own oil changes, you will hear the same sound.
