I have what looks like a few leaky fuel injectors. The manifold around 3, 5, and 6 look to be stained. Is this fairly common and could this cause a poor low idle? how easy/difficult is it to replace these? I suspect this is where my engine idle issues are comming from. Also I have had this p0455 code, could this cause this code as well?

Leaking fuel injectors are the #1 reason for Cherokee's burning to the ground. The fire starts, melts the cable to the hood release and there goes the Jeep.
Take a look.. injectors are just above the exhaust manifold.
Try a local dealer for an o-ring kit to replace them. Your injectors are probably fine. Then work on the other issues.

P0455 indicates a fuel vapor leak, it means a large leak has been detected, usually it's your gas cap, get a new gas cap (they are cheap). You might check to see if you have a leak in any of your fuel lines.

My friends 89 had a bad leakly one. It would die and not get that good of gpm. Don't go to a dealer you will pay out the a$$. Just go to a parts store and ask for a injector seal kit. It took me about 40mins to swap them out. It still dies but thats some thing else. The seal kit only cost like under $10.00 and easy to put in.

Go to AutoZone, they have a tool that looks like this.

Yeah, that style would work as well. Just needs something to depress the "nubs" that grip around the rail.
Dont try using a screwdriver etc.. you'll run risk of damaging it and your line popping off.

Thanks guys... got it done, then I fired it up and gas was spitting out of injectors 1, 2, and 3. Shut it down quick so I dont start a fire. Im going to let it dry over night and take it apart tomorrow. I didnt change the top boots but maybe I should have. Hopefully it wont leak anymore gas overnight as long as there is no pressure running to it.
Also I used a little motor oil for the bottom seals to ease them into the manifold (suggestion of a mechanic) but I didnt put any on the top seals and I didnt change the top seals either. Guess I will change the top seals and apply a little oil to each. They were tough to fit back into the fuel rail. So I could have ruined or loosened the seals.

Thanks for your input everyone. I found that I damaged one of the seals causing the leak. Went ahead and replaced all the upper seals and oiled them to make sure the slide right in. Check for pressure first, and was good. Then I cranked it up and all was good. I think we are business again.
