'97 up XJs do not have a heater control valve......the factory eliminated it. If warm air is entering when heat selector is at cold, it's likely that the seals around the flapper door have deteriorated.
The heater control valve is eliminated by using new/longer 5/8" and 3/4" heater hoses between the 2 heater core nipples on the firewall and the water pump/t-stat cover.

There isn't any heater control valve under the dash. Not possible since the hoses are in the engine bay and end at the fire wall at the heater core. The heat is controlled with the blending door. So, If your Jeep has one under the dash I would like to see a picture of it. That way I can see how the water gets to and from it since the hoses don't go under the dash...

So what your saying is just go to autozone and say I want the 5/8 and 3/8 hose for a 98 Cherokee and just remove my controls valve an plug it into the firewall ports and ill have no issues ??
