I wouldn't say the engine is ruined but the block definetly is. If the op thinks it would be worth it to only replace the block that would solve the issue. But for all that work? Id be swapping the engine

Yes. It is ruined. You just don't take all the components from a 190,000 mile engine and drop them into another block. Who the heck knows what other damage has been done?

He basically has a boat anchor sitting in his engine bay right now.

If his local car dealership is hosting a push, pull, or drag sale today, he needs to go visit them now.

JB Weld? Couldn't hurt, right? Just be prepared for overheating?

Yes, it has 182k. It is sons jeep. Would it be worth it to get salvage yard engine and try to do it myself?

Can't afford new jeep for him now.

A boneyard engine is the cheapest option. You can take a chance and install one as is from a doner, or freshen up the doner with new bearings, piston rings, gaskets, seals, and run a hone through the cylinders. At the very least pull the pan off of the doner engine and check the condition of the guts.

JBWeld is a waste of time and money in this case.

If you go the salvage yard route, try to hear the engine run before you go to all the time and expense pulling and putting engines.
