I have a 98 xj. For some reason I have a leak in the passenger floor board. It's not coming from above. My floor mat never gets wet. Only my carpet and underneath. Anyone know some possibilities of what it is.

 

Has it rained recently in your area (windshield gasket)? Cowl have any holes underneath.

Did you notice it after driving it or has it been sitting?

Could be a door gasket as well.

Yeah it rained. And it's just in the passenger floor board. It can't be from the door because there's no sign of it coming from the door. It'll be dry one min and the next time I check it's wet. It only happens sometimes when I drive and sometimes when I just go out and check it. It seems like it's coming from the front underneath the carpet

 

Have you pulled up the carpet to look? Maybe see if its coming from under the dash. Smell it. Is it coolant smell.etc etc

 

It looks like it's coming from the dash underneath the black rubber which I can't see under. It smells like water. But idk

 

Might be your heater core. Best i can say for best answer. Google jeep xj dashboard passenger leak. Could find some interesting stuff. When I had a leak on my passenger floor. It was a softball sized hole in the floor .
