leaf springs
So I recently picked up a 96xj for a few hundred to replace my old truck as a daily driver. So after driving it a few days I realize the rear end is sagging and upon inspection notice the leafs are hyper-extended and not looking pretty.
What cheap and easy method would y'all suggest to fix this?

Great write-up here on changing leaf springs should you decide to go that route.

I just realized I have the same issue. I have an add a leaf ordered that should be here today. fugured I would start with that cause it's a bit easier that changing the entire leafs and I can always keep it in new leafs if I have to replace the entire packs. I'll post my results when they are installed.

I installed this add a leaf http://www.4wheelparts.com/Lift-Kits...=4+Wheel+Drive
Its advertised as 1.5 - 2" of lift. I installed mine yesterday and got 3 7/8". Yes I wouldn't believe it myself if I hadn't done it myself. I measured the height of my drawbar. 15 7/8 before and 19 3/4 afterwards. Granted thats the extreme rear of the vehicle which will probably be more than if I measured in the fender itself but I think it's safe to say I got at least 2" of lift and for $45 and about two hrs. work I am well pleased.
Obvisouly that one spring is doing all the work now so I will wait and see if I get any sag soon.
