Leaf spring replacement
The rear leafs on my 1994 Cherokee have become somewhat shot and I plan to raid the local junkyard this weekend for some fresher ones. Does anyone know off hand what year Cherokees would provide a direct swap with mine and if that would also include Grand Cherokees? Thanks in advance.

any year cherokee. and I think the only difference from D35 to 8.25 as far as the springs is U-bolts. (at least that's the only thing different they send you when you order a lift kit, same springs). Although almost every cherokee I've seen with stock springs sag, and pretty often you'll find the leaf spring bolts siezed to the inside of the bushings.

All XJs 84-01 use the same leaf springs. As stated, the different axles only matters with the u-bolt size. When picking a set of used leafs fom the jy always consider these factors on the donor vehicle.
1. Year of donor, an older one will sag more simply due to the amount of time the vehicles weight has rested upon them.
2. Mileage of donor, even if it's a 2000 model, high miles can create more sag from basic wear and tear.
3. Accesories on donor, if it has a trailer hitch the leafs could be weaker from hauling heavier loads over the years.
Grand Cherokees will not work because they have coil springrear suspension.
