Default Leaf spring replacement

Never done anything like this in the past. But I plan on replacing my leaf springs. Picked up a set off a 99 for $100. But my main question is how hard is it to do by myself with just basic hand tools? Also what parts do I need to buy or replace while I'm doing this? U bolts, bushings, shackles?

I've been doing all my work in the driveway for as long as the weather holds out and I'm learning as I go.

Before you start, use PB blaster on all the bolts a day or two before you start the work, the bolts like to seize up in the bushings. If you're going to be in there, I would replace all you can now. Shackles will depend on what condition they are in. Definitely do the bushings and u-bolts. Took me about 4 hours to do both sides. Do as much prep as you can before you take off the old leafs, like popping the bushings out of your replacement leafs and reinstalling the new bushings. Getting the bushings out can be a PITA, I drilled into the rubber and used a sawzall to cut the metal spacer, as mine were seized up in there good. Do a google search on how to do it if you don't know or get stuck. Keep us posted on your progress!

You'll want to buy a lot of PB Blaster. You might need a breaker bar for the front bolt. Do the new ones have bushings? If not you'll need to get a set. Poly will last longer, rubber is softer/quieter.

I've been hosing everything in PB all week. Te shocks put up a hell of a fight yesterday but I was victorious.

When I buy new u bolts there are different models. I assume I have a Dana 35 rear end since it's a 92 sport. What's the easiest way to make sure tho? The shape of the housing?

Get a breaker bar for sure. I broke two ratchets trying to get mine out. Here's the axles..

I'd just use a cut off wheel to cut the u-bolts and the bolts that hold it to the shackle. I find it a lot easier to do then trying to unbolt the seized bolts that your not going to reuse. You will save your self alot of time and bandaids.
