Default leaf spring question

my buddy is doing a budget boost and is going to order Old Man Emu 2 inch leaf springs and 2 inch coil spacers The question is that the OME leaf springs come in 3 diff load options light, medium, and heavy. Which will be best will they all sit at the same height? thanks a ton

i'm not sure about the grade of them but from what i have heard about OME suspension systems is that they are just are, a suspension system, as opposed to a suspension lift. i'm not sure how they springs settle though.

Front Coil Springs:

OME Part #___Application_____________Rates_______Free Height_____Est. Lift
OME930______Light / Standard Load_____160 lbs/inch__18.7"____________1.75"
OME930______Heavy Load_________________________________________1 - 1.5"
OME 931_____ZJ I6___________________140 lbs/inch__20.08"___________1.5 - 2.5"
OME934______ZJ V8________________ _180 lbs/inch__20.08"___________2 - 3"
OMEJGF10___Trim Packer_________________________10mm

Notes:
1) Left and Right springs typically have a 12mm Free Height difference to compensate for height or load variations between the left and right side of the vehicle, i.e. trimming.
2) Lift is only an estimation.

Rear Leaf Springs:

OME Part #__Dakar Part #__Application________Rates________Camber__Est. Lift
JC1A_______CS034RA_____Medium Load________148 lbs/inch___230mm___3"
JC1B_______CS034RB_____Medium Load________148 lbs/inch___205mm___2.5"
JC2A_______CS035RA_____Constant Heavy Load__137 lbs/inch,
____________________________________________257 lbs/inch overload
__________________________________________________ _______235mm__2 - 3"
JC2B_______CS035RB_____Constant Heavy Load__137 lbs/inch,
____________________________________________257 lbs/inch overload
__________________________________________________ _______210mm__1.5 - 2.5
JCXL____________________Add-a-Leaf __________+20%_________________1"
OMEU60_________________U BoltDana 35
OMEU57_________________U BoltChryCo 8.25"

XJGK01__________________Transfer Case Drop Kit

Notes:
1) A and B packs have the same load rating but different free camber. OME catalogue lists B packs with 10mm LESS lift than A packs and are designed to compensate for height or load variation between the left and right side of the vehicle, i.e trimming. There is no Light / Standard Duty rear spring.
2) Lift is only an estimation.

Shock Absorbers:

OME Part #___________Description_________________Dimensions
__________________________________________Extended ______Compressed
N35__________________Front_________________22.4"__ _______13.7"
N35C_________________Front Comfort__________22.4"_________13.7"
N35L_________________Front Long____________26.7"__________15.4"
N36__________________Rear_________________22.1"___ _______13.5"
N36C_________________Rear Comfort__________22.1"__________13.5"
N36L_________________Rear Long_____________24.5"__________14.4"
OMESD40____________Steering Damper

Notes:
1) C denotes "Comfort" for less damping and a softer ride. Not recommended with accessories or heavy loads.
2) L Denotes "Long". Long shocks are not intended for standard OME lifts.
3) Steering Damper applicable to Left Hand Drive vehicles only.

The above may be confusing to read but you'll figure it out. I ran the OME HD lift for a while. It rode like a dream but only got about 1.75" out of it. Later I stuck the OME AAL in the back and spacers up front for 3" then it all hell broke loose after that.

When choosing old man emu, choose by weight, not by height. Consider what aftermarket accessories you are gonna be throwing on the jeep to determine what springs you need. OME suspension systems are not lift kits, they are suspension upgrades so don't expect alot of lift out of them but do expect an outstanding ride.

This is what the rear leaf springs look like (HD springs)

OME HD with 1" coil spacer up front and stock tires:

Same lift but with 31" tires:

I tend to over-do it sometimes.

Thanks.

ok so if he goes with the OME 2" HD leaf packs then he should get a 2" coil spacer for the front right (to even it out) or would a 1.75 coil spring spacer be fine???

Coil spacer or coil, either will work. Coil is the preferred method if your springs are worn or old.

I am looking at an OME kit as well, with HD springs - I have a stock '93 and when I hook a 2-axle utility trailer to her she really sags.

Where are you looking at buying it from? Any vendor recommendations? I am looking at JeepinOutfitters and Rocky Road Outfitters; any others?

I hear they aren't cheap, but are well worth the investment if you don't need big lift... Sorry to hijack the thread...

Call Jason at Jeepin Outfitters, then google the horror stories of dealing with Rocky Road. I'v had bad dealings with them myself when they were still Summit Offroad.
