leaf spring
so the bottom leaf on my leaf springs comes loose pretty much evey time that I drive the XJ. what would cause that??

well you have to take apart the leaf spring pack, which means pulling off the u bolts, taking the old rusty pin out, and replacing it with a new one. pretty much the same as doing an add-a-leaf lift, minus putting in the extra leaf.

The spring pack does not need to be disassembled. Disconnect the axle and put a c-clamp(s) on the leaf spring to squeeze the leafs back together. Use a long screwdriver to keep the leafs lined up.
No need to buy a dedicated centering pin. A 1/2" Grade 8 bolt fits the hole in the springs. Grind the head of the bolt to make it round-ish before installing it.
