Default Gears for 35" tires

I am in the middle of putting a 6.5" lift on my xj and I already have a set of 35" tires that i am going to run on it. What gears do i need for everything to run good and not kill my tranny? Also, when i put in the proper gears will my speedo be correct? Sorry for the noob questions but you have to learn sometime and why not ask the people who know. Thanks guys.

With a D30 in the front, all you can do is go to 4.88s. That is the lowest gear that will fit in a D30, IIRC.

Im runnin my 35's on 4.10's right now and its a slug. It was perfect for my 33's but you need AT LEAST a 4.56 for 35" tires. I would just go ahead and throw in some 4.88's tho. You wont be sorry

I agree learning is a great thing, and asking questions is wonderful way to learn. I also believe learning sometimes needs to be in steps like climbing a mountain.

I'm sure you know that is a lot of lift for 35's, which will create a high center of gravity.

How much experience do you have driving a rig with this much lift?

4.56's will be as close to stock as possible with that tire size. If you are putting this size meats on though you will be off-roading it so i would say go lower like everyone else says and get the 4.88s.

You will have to get a new speedo gear though. You can find the right size by using the chart available in the link 93XJLI posted.
