Time for new shoes. Currently I have an almost stock 2001 60th edition that came with stock 16" wheels and have 225/70R16 (29.1") Cooper AT3 mounted. I've replaced the rear springs and have a set of coil overs on it and put 1' risers on the front springs to level it.

I'd like to go a little larger without any rubbing. I do a little off roading on fire roads but no rock crawling. I'd like to get more rubber to fill the wheel wells better.

I'm thinking of 235/70R16 (29.1"). It looks like I've got a lot of clearance when turning.

Any suggestions? Thoughts? Advice?

 

The "will it rub?" question really depends on how much flex you plan have the suspension do. With the larger tire size you mention it should be fine, particularly if you're just doing light offroading and keeping the front sway bar connected. If you get some rubbing on the control arms at full lock, when flexed, you can always adjust the steering stops a little. My advice is get the 235s and enjoy! If, and it's a pretty big if, you do get some rubbing while offroad, there are always some tricks for fixing it that don't involve wheel spacers or cutting.
