My '91 came with the full size spare. And used it for the first time (original tire) in 2008. 17 years old and still had air, I was shocked. There's a 235/75/15 in there now.

I had a donut oem and put a 235 75 15 in but had to pound in or out as it were the fender well so it did not sit at an odd angle in the compartment. I also had to use a longer tiedown bolt. But it fits perfectly without squeaking

Here a 31 in the stock position, I had to remove the metal bracket that the stocker sat on. I dont see getting a bigger tire than a 31 to fit in the stock location.
I dont know if its obvious in the pic, but it sits right against the speaker.

Cool

Im looking at tires for the XJ, those 215's are pissing me off and should belong on a Honda.

I cant add a rear tire carrier right now due to cash flow problems, I need to know (and see if anyone has a pic) on how the 235 75 15 or 30x9.5x15 tires fit in the back where the spare sits.
I will take off the bracket that it sits on, bu dont want to move speaker bars or adjust the back seat. Ill get a carrier and move to 33's by then.

Anyone have a pic of he tires above?

I believe they'll be too tall to fit with the speaker bar yes. I just have mine resting on the back of the rear seat and rachet strapped down.

Bonus: Keeps the back seat from rattling
