Knock Sensor wiring..
While replacing the power steering pressure hose, I seem have messed up something in a bundle of wiring down to underneath the exhaust manifold.
I have unplugged them; O2 sensor, the knock sensor (I think) and another one.... All the wires appear to be in OK shape but the knock sensor wire bundle has an extra cable in it which appears to be an extra ground of somje sort...perhaps to eliminate electronic interference as the bundle was wrapped in foil tape.
Where does this extra ground wire get strapped to? Can I just ground somewhere else?
The Jeep starts but immediately dies. :/ (though the steering pump is no longer whining and the leak has stopped...one thing done!

While removing the airbox to get at the power steering hoses, I seemed to have knocked loose the connector to the fuel pump resistor. This was what caused it to stall a moment after startup.
Before I realized that had happened, I managed to strip out all of the wiring from underneath the header, cleaning it all up...and carefully put new foil around the knock sensor wiring and added a ground strap to the 3rd wire that was in the bundle that didn't hook up to anything.
The knock sensor is a Piezo transducer and the signal it produces is not very strong so that foil insulation and extra ground would be important to keep the signal clean from there to the ECU.
I don't like having plastic wiring so near the header. Any suggestions on inexpensively heat-proofing those sections of the harness?

Just a FYI...if either of the 2 connectors on the resistor block in the center of this photo becomes disconnected this causes a failure to run situation.
It will start and run just fine for just a moment then stall out.
It was very easy to knock one of those connectors off while taking the airbox out...which is something we frequently do. It took me a little bit to figure it out and it might save you a headache if you experience the same....
