how do you remove the 4x4 shifter **** on 96 cherokee? if it's removable is the shaft threaded or smooth and does anyone have any pics i'm planing on putting a t handle **** on if its possible

If it's a manual trans, it has a lock nut under the ****. Back the lock nut off (clockwise) and the **** backs right off (anti-clockwise).
