I hooked one up on the power wire to the ignition switch until I got a new steering column.
But!!! You run the chance of draining your battery if you hook it up wrong. Engine stops, but all the other power keeps running.

You could go all out and install switches on all your wires going to the ignition and run them up to your overhead console (if you have one). That way you could feel like a pilot
hitting all your switches before you start your Jeep. Then when you stop you hit them all off.
