Gonna have to get crafty with some tamper proof screw maybeza small chisel knock out the tittie in center or tap them loose with the edge of chisel....

I found the culprit. The other "pin" on the metal shaft going in to the ignition switch broke off and was inside the switch when I pulled out out. What is that part?

Yup, that's what it is. Might as well replace both while I'm here. The inside of the switch where that actuator pin goes in to looks a little worn anyway.
