Need to ask the experts again...!

My 96 Cherokee came with keys but no Fob to lock/unlock the doors. I was removing my headliner and in between in sunvisors there is what appears to be a small black sensor that is attached to a PC board.

1. Is this the antenna for the doors or something else.

2. Can you buy fobs that didn't come with the vehicle and link them to my vehicle, is there a procedure for this ?

I've seen fobs before. Even at wall mart

The one up there is a crap infrared system that doesn't work well. It relies on line of sight and close proximity to work, and the fobs for these are a dealer only item. See about getting an aftermaket keyless entry instead

Kinda what I thought...probbaly go with aftermarket.

You can get a remote that works with the factory system through keyless ride for about $30. But like the other guy said its still a crappy system.
Theyre a big supplier for locksmiths but also sell to the public. you can also get transponder keys there too.
