key fob battery

key fob battery
Hey all, i have a 96 xj 4x4 5 speed 4.0 sport. i've had it for a while, and i've never bothered to get the key fob to work. i opened it up, and theres no battery in it. i cant seem to figure out what kind of battery i need. what do i need?

It should take a CR2016.
Go to your local parts store. They'll have them hanging on a rack on the counter, usually. If not, they can tell you exactly which battery it takes.
Granted, 96 and down key fobs sucked.
