I had to tinker with the electric locks, but they work good now, and even without an entry fob they are handy....

I turned off that stupid beep the first week I had the truck. I can't remember how I did it though.

you press and hold one of the buttons on the remote. I'm not sure which one or for how long though

1) Press and hold the lock button on the fob for 5-10 seconds.

2) While the lock button is pressed, press and release the unlock button on the fob.

The horn beep will either turn on or turn off.

I put some new battery's in the fob and cleaned the contact points. Works like a charm. Only time will tell. Hopefully the last set of batteries I bought were just junk.

I should mention, I don't know when I bought the last set of batteries. Roughly a year ago. I bought the rayovac brand from the watch/jewelry section at Walmart. This time I bought Duracell ones from the battery kiosk at Walmart. Maybe these are better or more fresh.

Seems this is a fairly common occurrence - my 2001 has been doing this for 6 or 7 years now. I've just got used to it now, and just press lock/unlock without even thinking. I have disabled the beep on locking, just to keep the neighbours sweet late at night.....

Had the same probe on my 99". Luckily, no more problems after it fell off my key ring in Winter-and the snowblower ate it... I do miss keyless in the rain. Though it was so unreliable.

True story: I used to work in DC. This was probably around 2004. I parked my car in a deck one morning and went into the M Street entrance to my office building. That was about 8 o'clock.

Around noon I decided to go to lunch. I was headed up toward Dupont Circle, so I went out the opposite side of the building from where I had entered that morning. As I was crossing Rhode Island Avenue, something happened to catch my attention. It was a skinned up Jeep key fob, laying right out in the middle of the road. It had obviously seen some abuse from traffic, but it wasn't crushed. I picked it up.

Then I thought, hey, wait a minute. I reached into my pants pocket and pulled out my key ring.

My clicker was not on it.

Because that was my clicker that had been bouncing around in Rhode Island Avenue. To this day I can't figure out how it got off my key ring, out of my pants pocket, around to the other side of the building and out into the street for me to find again four hours later. And on top of it all, it still worked just fine. In fact, I'm still using that exact same clicker to this very day, gouges in the plastic and all.

And it still does the unlock-lock-unlock thing.

I hate to rain on this parade fellas, actually this might be good news. I replaced those batteries about three weeks ago, and the fob is still working. It usually quit working after about a week. Maybe I just bought some bad batteries. Maybe these fobs don't like to work with weak batteries. I'll keep updating if I get any changes.

FYI for anyone looking at this because your fobs are not working: Ensure you have qty 2 of CR2016 batteries installed in the fob and NOT just 1 CR2032 like I did (the PO actually). The fob works on 6 volts per the service manual and 3 volts will cause it to work intermittently and/or not at all. This is only for the fob and RKE, the door switches should work regardless.
