Default Key chime

My 98 cherokee used to chime multiple times when the key was turned on. This morning it didn't.

Not terribly concerned because it's kind of annoying. Just curious what it could be. If I do a gauge sweep test it beeps. And it chimes with the headlights on with the door open.

Thanks

I've tried it a few times today. No luck. I've always had to jiggle the key to get it to turn. Could that be related

I have a 97xj. My key chime started going crazy when i replaced my ignition actuator and ignition switch. Sometimes it works....sometimes it dosent. Its not really a bother to me so i didnt investigate since the ignition was working again.

Is that what the initial chime is for when you turn the key on?

Yes, if you don't have the seat belt hooked up. You should also get a seat belt icon on the instrument cluster.

I buckled and unbuckled the seat belt a few times and the chime is back. I only get the seat belt light with the bulb check. Not sure if that is normal. I'm not too awful worried about it, just nice to know the missing chime is nothing bigger. Thanks!!!
