Default Keeps blowing Horn Fuse... Help!!!

Hello All,

Hey guys,

Need little help here.. I am not the best with electrical yet..

Well as soon as I stick in the horn fuse it pops so I am assuming that something is grounding out..
I pulled the horn relay and tried to stick in another fuse hoping it was the relay, but it blew again.. Then I disconected the horns and tried another fuse and same thing.. I am thinking the problem is probably in the wheel...

Any help is appreciated..

Thanks a bunch

Ant....

hmm. what year jeep? Try moving the tilt steering up or down and try the fuse again...might be a short in the steering column. Air bag light on? Do you have cruise control? if your jeep has cruise control.

I would start looking in the steering column for a short. Try and trace the horn wires back to column as much as you can.

Just disconnect battery for about 15mins that's all I did when I did my clock spring you should be fine. You can turn the headlights on for a min then off after bat is disconnected to drain the power out of the system.

Did some poking around with a meter today and found something I think is not correct..

When I checked to see the volts at the power outlet and the cig lighter..
The power outlet had 12.3 and the cig lighter only showed 10.5 or 10.3 cant remember xactly but I know it was 1-2 volts lower then the power outlet... is this a indication that this wire has melted to the horn wire.. I am not realy that good with electrical so any input would help...

Thanks,

Ant...

You may want to take a look at the Junction Block (passenger footwell) for corrosion in the connectors. There have been several cases of corrosion in the JB causing strange electrical problems, albeit mutiple problems, not just one like your horns.

See pics below.

I see in one of your pics that the JB is exposed. Connector C2 and C4 carry the circuits you may be interested in. Pull these connectors and see if there's any green stuff in there. If there is, pull the JB and look at the back side.

Ok, Will try to get it done tomorrow....

If I disconnect the 2 circuit Connectors C2 and C4 from the JB and try to put a fuse in there and it blows would that eliminate those 2 circuits? I will pull the JB in couple weeks when I do the heater core...

Thanks,

Ant...

Did Fix 3Rd Brake light today, There was 3 broken wires in the Hatch door... Only electrical prob now is the horn..
