Default Keeping the heat out?

So I took all the carpet and padding out of the xj and by doing this ALOT of heat comes thru the floor board. Anyone got any good ways to keep it from getting so hot inside/in the floor board?

Could try adding a heat shield under the floor above the cat?

Seems like most of the heat is coming from where the pedals are and same spot innate pass side .

Nothing between your feet and the engine bay except a sheet metal firewall now. That reflective heat shield stuff (Home Depot has it) works really well, but I put carpet over it. Not sure how you'd work it in there on a bedlined floor.
I wonder if you could get the thin stuff- about 1/8"- and glue it to the engine side of the firewall somehow?
