The 1-2 option will limit the transmission to 1st and 2nd gear.

The 3 option allows it to shift into 3rd gear.

D will allow it to shift through all 4 gears automatically.

The 1-2 thing kinda sucks. I like full control of every gear when i have an auto. I used to put the tj in 4-low and lock it in 1st. It crawled everywhere. Can't do that with the xj cuz it will upshift to 2nd right?

Found this when surfing around one day...gives you control over the 1-2 shift for the AW4. Can't vouch for it, though.

in 4lo and first gear it takes alot to go into second in mine.

Even in 4lo in D i have to almost let off the gas to shift on a hill climb

Good find that is the link I use for the NSS. Best one for that I have found so far.

You might look into this from a guy on NAXJA named Brett I think. LINK
