Default Just need a real quick how-to.

I'm gonna have some extra time on my hands today, and I want to finally get around to checking my flexplate-to-torque converter bolts in my '91 XJ. I also want to check for the dreaded cracks.

Basically, I just need a quick how-to from someone. I know I need to remove the front inspection cover from the front of the bellhousing, but there seems to be two larger bolts on the outside and 2 small ones on the inside. Remove them all? And if anyone has the torque specs, I would be very grateful. One last thing... if any of the bolts are loose, does anyone recommend any kind of thread-lock? I have medium strength that I used for my thermostat housing and temp. sensor.

Thanks guys.

i've never had the flexplate crack on a jeep that is normally a chevy trick but you'll hate to here you mus unblot and slide the transmission back that dust shield goes all the way around the bell housing and is set on the dowels that line the case to the block

To check the torque converter bolts simply inbolt the inspection cover.

The proper way to inspect for cracks is to pull the torque converter and unbolt the flex plate since the vast majority of cracks are between the mounting holes.
