Just bought 1998 XJ
Hello all, I am a newbie here, and new as a Jeep XJ owner. I just have a few questions about it.
1) What is recommended repair for rotted out rocker panels. (I am a welder, am sure I can replace them) Also, where is recommended best buy?
2) When I get up to about 70 MPH, I have a vibration near the transfer case area.
3) I am looking for the color of my XJ. The color code form the door jamb is: PQ7
I thank all who reply in advance.
Thanks!

first and foremost: WELCOME.
Secondly, please post pictures of the rust if you can. There are a variety of 'treatment' options depending on the amount of rust and what you intend to you the jeep for (e.g., everything from built in rocker protection to a reapir with bondo). As a welder, I'm sure you're already thinking about your options. I will say that that is likely to be just the beginning of your rust. I'd recommend pulling your seats and carpets and looking at the floorboards. You likely have rust if not holes in your floorboards too.
vibrations also cause me to ask more questions. Is there a lift? Is everything tight? Was it in a collision at any time? What are the condition of the tires? etc.
There is a great post somewhere for color identification. Of course a pic will help us give you the anser, but I know there are a couple websites specializing in touchup paint that will have the info for you.

Welcome to CF from Tj in NJ, the rockers can be ordered and welded in and the vibration may be a u joint. Get under the jeep in neutral and shake the DS up and down and back and forth ...Tj

On the vibration, I am going to get under there right now before it gets too dark, and check the u-joints.
Thanks man.
