My problem with that article is they don't show anything about the test

Exactly!! Not even a dyno plot! -5 hp peak is nothing if the engine gains 10-20 hp at other RPM points. There is also no mention of fuel tuning, which is probably necessary with the newer manifold on an older engine. The article is poorly written and talks in terms that are too general.

Sure would if something else was broke and the old intake needed to come off, but not just to change intakes based on internet rumor. I find it hard to believe that a publication like JPMagazine would publish info other than the facts they found in their tests. Doing so serves what purpose.....none.

What's that old Barnum & Bailey saying?

But the problems with the test are the variables they don't mention. What Injectors were used? What tb? Was the test done on the same day under the same running conditions? And even then, there test would only apply to the 96-98 obd2 xj's.

A reliable dyno comparison includes all this info, there's does not

I would do that as well but I tend to leave with more parts and pieces then I needed in the first place.

I call it treasure hunting.

Just recently I needed an idler pulley for my W body. While at the Pick N Pull I found a fresh car with some nice pieces I've been needing along with a brand new alternator. Didn't need the alternator but I couldn't pass up a brand new alternator for $15. It's sitting on the shelf for if I ever need one
