hey guys, new question, when I go over a speed bump (or anything like one) it sounds like if you had a trunkload of stuff. I cant figure out what it is and I dont have anyone that can ride in the back while I drive over one
suggestions??
it doesnt do it over regular bad roads and potholes...
thanks

upper shock mounting bolts broke..... tailpipe hanging lose and colliding with everything.... your exhaust period, rear sway bar broken.... really rusty rear floors....
basically crawl under the rear of the jeep and look for anything that looks suspicious for rumbling around

Thanks, I have tried to pick something out, but my exhaust and shocks are solid (just replaced them) nothing under the back seat either thought maybe jack and stuff loose but nope thats not it either. May have to take it somewhere.... dont want the axle comin off
and I cant move it by hand, so still nothin obvious.

is your bumper mounted well, or like mine, is there a broken bolt that allows it to move up and down just enough to hit the bottom of the lift gate? cause that could be it. beyond that, just crawl under there and start yanking on stuff.
are your upper shocks hitting? I am referring to the whole bar pin/BPE thing. I had this thump in the back of my jeep for months and I never could figure it out because I couldnt reproduce it in the garage.
One day I threw on a set of BPE's because I changed my shocks and didnt want to have to fight with the upper bolts again, and it was gone, like magic

Knocking in the rear is Exhaust, shackles, shocks, Bushing. Exaust is hung on rubber mounts so it can flex, common area it hits is on the tranny mount and against the gas tank, shake the exhaust to verify it is not hitting, eyes can lie. Shackles can hit the rear of the shackle box, usually only on lifted rigs. Worn bushings in the shackle and springs can knock. Loose shock bolts, bad bushing or too long or short shocks can knock. Just because it is NEW doesn't mean it is good or installed correctly or not knocking. Worn U-joints and bearings can even knock like you describe.

I'll go along with this one. I had the exact same kind of problem and couldnt find the cause no matter how much I looked. Turned out the rubber bushing in my one rear sway bar end had opped out and the metal was free to jangle around on bumps especially. Since it's up behind the tire it hard to see when just looking.

My e break lines smacked the floor and sway bar when I hit bumps. Check them too. I took my sway bar off so no more wacky on that but the knocking on the floor was solved by putting some springs from the line to a hole on the "frame." shake that jeep like it owes you money and your trying to get the money to fall out.
