Default jump start gone wrong

Hello all... Call me dumb but this morning I had to jump my truck. So being in a rush and low light conditions I managed to cross the cables. With that said I had screwed something up.When I try to start it just cranks.I checked all maxi fuse and all under the dash.I have notice while checking fuses. My dome lamps never turns off. When I push the jam switch in they dime but don't shut off.Pull fuse and they go out of course. So I've come to the conclusion I shorted something but I what IDK..Any help in where to start would be great full.

Sounds like ya left interior light on which killed battery turn headlight switch **** clock wise . see if light goes out when doors shut of course ....Have you checked fuses for power on both sides with key in run position.

yeah all fuses checked out ok.Checked all switchs, all off.I can't get it to start even with it being jumped correctly.Just cranks but won't fire.Hope its not the ECU since I just replaced last mouth because of it not sending out a injector pulse.

Not sure what to tell you about your dome light, but it is not uncommon to fry either the computer, the alternator, or both when you cross the cables on a jump start.

I'm guessing computer in your case. I think I'd start by sourcing a different computer from a salvage yard and install that and go from there.

Good luck and keep us updated!

You could've killed the battery or blew your main fuse

It can't hurt to disconnect battery and see what happens. Maybe the computer will reboot.

I've never heard of that being necessary to get an XJ started.

KISS. Haven't heard that one it awhile, lol but I agree. To many jump to elaborate and huge problems when it could be a dollar fix. Start small and work your way up.

Fuse must be checked for power in and out . With key in run position. Then go from there . Under dash and under hood .
