I am having a jolt (possible in the transmission) only when I am between 45-50 MPH. I just reached 180000 a couple days ago. I bought the 98 Cherokee sport with 98000 miles on it, and as far as i know it has had no trans. flush. I replaced the CPU sensor in the bell housing about 5 years ago. Not ruling out that as the problem tho. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.

First step is almost always change the fluid if its gone that long without a change.
OK thanks. I think i will. Ive just heard horror stories of people doing the flush and having leaky seals afterwards.

If you don't take the pan off you'll be fine. It's not worth taking the pan off anyways as the filter is just a metal screen that stops chucks from getting in the trans.Originally Posted by gwthamm

I recommend only oem for those. You may get a good aftermarket one but for the hassle and most of the after markets fail anyways, pay the extra cash and go OEM.
The first time i just got a run of the mill CPS, cant remember how much it cost. It only lasted about 4 years tho. The second one was a Duralast from Autozone. It was $82.99 and came with a lifetime warranty.
Sidenote: during the diagnosis stage I replaced my throttle position sensor and coil pack and have been getting better gas mileage.

Always buy mopar when replacing the cps (ask me how I know
). Probably still a good idea to do a drain and refill of your trans.
