I know theres hundreds of threads about this and I’ve read a bunch. I’m having random misfires, I’ve changed plugs, coils, map sensor, cam sensor, crank sensor, throttle sensor, idle air control, did a fuel pressure test it was perfect and I just don’t know what else it could be. I’ve ordered a compression tester so that’s what I’m gonna do next but any help would be appreciated.
What year/engine? Always include this information when starting a thread as there are significant differences through the years.
What are the EXACT codes (not just a description) With OBD codes, the devil is definitely in the details. Is it just the P0300 code or are there some specific cylinder misfire codes as well? (P0XXX)
A compression test is a decent snapshot in time of the condition of the engine. The compression spec is 120-150 psi with no more than a 30 psi variation between cylinders.
2000 jeep cherokee xj, 4.0.
p0118 is the only code I’ve had so far but I unplugged it while it was running trying to see changes for a few seconds only.
I’ve used all name brand parts, no Chinese stuff.
just replaced injectors with no change. Been looking at wiring but don’t see anything yet.
only thing I’ve found that’s weird so far is I’m not sure what this is

Not sure what this is but looks broken?
Temp guage for older models. Not used on a 2000, so someone has already replaced the head. Likely due to the common cracked 0331head that came onyhe 2000/2001.
