I apologize for the title, supposed to be Wouldn't*...
Took my jeep through a drive through car wash. it had the undercarriage sprayers ( i figure they caused my problem) either way drove it through, came back to my shop shut it off and when i decided to leave it wouldnt hit a lick.
It would crank and crank and crank but wouldnt so much as cough or spudder. The distrib cap was bone dry when i took it off, you could spray starting fluid down the intake tube and it would run. The fuel pump was working and the rail had plenty of fuel pressure. but yet it wouldnt do a thing.
I let it sit over night went back the next morning and it started right up.
my only thought is maybe the crank positioning sensor is no longer sealed and some water got in it? not sure but thats the only cause i can think of.

Is it starting consistently now?
If you could spray starting fluid and it would run, the problem is not the crank sensor. If the crank sensor isn't working, you won't have spark, and you obviously had spark if the engine would start with starting fluid.
The problem you had was a "fuel delivery" problem. Why? Not sure.
A regular drive through car wash isn't usually problematic, even with the underbody spray option.
I'd keep an eye on it and chase it if it happens again.
