Ok I have a 96 Cherokee Country that won't stay on. I left for 5 months and when I came back the wife said that recently the jeep wouldn't start. I turned the key and immediately thought it was the battery since nothing happened. I then jumped it with our other car, no problem at all. I was driving it about .5 miles later when the jeep just turned off and when I turned the key nothing at all happened. What do you think is wrong with it? I am so terrible with vehicles and know nothing at all. Please let me know if you have any ideas of why my jeep is doing what it is doing.

 

nothing, as in it doesn't even turn?
if that's the case, check the crank positioning sensor. you can try to unclip it and blow out the terminals.

if there's absolutely nothing, could be the neutral start switch. but that won't make it die when it's running.

what's the volt gauge at when running? should be at a steady 14
if it drops off, it could be the alternator, maybe the alt. fuse, or maybe even the computer.
