Good point COS. If you look at the diagram I gave you there are a couple of clips to keep the wires away from the exhaust and they should be used to do just that.

Both of the ones that I replaces did not have those!! I zip tied mine to the speedo cable, with my big mits that was the hardest part of the whole job, and that seems to be working well. HTH!!

Sounds good. 1 more question. Sometimes, she'll idle way high, like at almost 3000 rpm. I was told when I got the thing that it could be leaky injecter bushings so i replaced those. then 2 of the injectors crapped out on me and one was spraying all over the engine. so i replaced them all about 8 months ago. it stopped for a few months then started up every now and then recently. it does it wether its cold or hot outside, running for a while or first start up at 4:30 am. Could this have something to do with it too?

This is a seperate problem and I think it sounds like a bad or at least a dirty IAC or Idle steper motor. Pull it and gently clean it with carb cleaner and once it is clean and reinstalled if it still idles high you may have a defective motor on your IAC which means replacement.

Default Jeep won't Start...

1988 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 Liter 6 Cyl. 4WD

I've been having issues with my Jeep although.. this is the first time I've ran into this problem.

I've been reading up on this post because I don't think it'd be smart to start a brand new thread when there's good information in this post. Well anyways! To the problem. Lately my Jeep was taking a second or two to start up as opposed to it firing up right away and today when I was gonna go renew my tags it decided to act up when I tried turning it on. I fiddled with the Negative battery connection and had my roommate try and start it up. It tried to turn over when she turned it off and asked if she needed to gas it. I said no and she tried again and it wouldn't even click or turn over in any way. The lights and radio work as well as the fuel pump, I checked the Fuel Pressure valve and it spit out some fuel like it should. By the way if I get terms mixed up, sorry, I'm pretty new to this whole working on cars/trucks thing :P

I called up my buddy and he said it could either be the starter or the starter fuse, I didn't get to check that stuff just yet because I wanted to see what CF would say. I've been searching for the Crankshaft Position Sensor connector for quite a while now and I can't find it. Pretty sure I found the CKP though. As I'm looking under my Jeep on the driver side it's on top of the Bellhousing (Do know that I'm just guessing it's the Bellhousing). I can see it but I can't see where it's going to so I would unplug a connector under the hood and replug it in, hoping that I got the right one. I looked in my manual and it looks nothing like what I'm seeing on my Jeep so I'm crazy confused. Anyone have any input as to what I should do or maybe I should start uploading some pictures of my Jeep and have you guys comment on where to start?

Okay a little update on my part...
I found the CKP connector and I unplugged it and plugged it back in a few times but that didn't seem to fix my issue. I changed out my Starter Relay, got my Starter and my Battery checked, they tested good. Any suggestions?

Default Jeep won't start

Hello everyone,
I have a 1990 Jeep Cherokee base 4 cylinder.
It turns and fires. but won't start. When I spray carb cleaner and a friend turns the ignition, it starts and as long as I spray the carb cleaner, it keep running.
when he applies the gas, it sounds like it chocking and it will die. Not sure what the problem is!
