This morning I drove to school and everything was fine, went out today for lunch and nothing, key fob wouldn't unlock doors, no remote start, nothing, put the key in the ignition and turned it not a thing, hooked up jumper cables started but would die unless I stayed on the gas and then took the cables off and it tried again cranked once then nothing! Any idea what It could be!? I was thinking possibly alternator

They will check alternator/battery at most auto stores for free if you can get there, if not just check with a voltmeter, to save some typing:

Also, FYI - unplugging the battery while the engine is running to see if it shuts off (pinpointing the alternator) is in fact NOT a foolproof test. Not only is it technically dangerous, but most 4.0's will actually not stay running even with a perfectly fine battery/alternator.

Is this on your 1946 ******, you didn't mention in your post.

How old is the battery. How's condition of the cables. Etc etc.
