My friend has an 80s jeep I think that would make it obd0. Hes haveing an issue where he can crank it over and it will start for just a second then shut off right away. some random times he can get it to run for a bit. fuel pump, filter and gas are new. it sat for many years. the gas tank is good and doesnt have any rust. havent had time to poke at it much.

I'm still kinda new to the Cherokee thing, but on the cars I've owned formerly, general mechanic sense doen's hurt.
Have you asked him to pull a plug wire and plug, hold it near the block (or exposed ground) and check if there's spark?
I also usually try a few squirts of starting fuild/ether into the air intake. Sometimes you can keep it running with the occasional squirt until it blows all the junk out of the engine.
Good luck.

I put an injector noid on and it stops fireing. I havent had time to work on it but ill post up my next findings. ill see if it keeps running with a spray of starting fluid. im going to try the resistor block and a few other things.

it wont say running ? yea my jeep wont talk either lol , try putting a little gas directly into the throttle body and see if it runs off that then you'll know if your having a fuel issue
Finally got to poke at it for a few min. I replaced the crank sensor and it didnt help. I know the alt is bad but i ran a jumper cable from the two batts off my superduty and put a fresh batt in it but that didnt work. I know the alt was bad from when I had it running before and tested it. so a new alt is going in asap. Ill dump gas in the throttle body when i get back to it. The jeep is about an hour from me so working on it is just a pain. A friend dwn the road from me is buying it so its coming to my house so i can actually use MY tools and have more then a few min at a time to just poke.
