i have a 99 jeep cherokee sport 4.0 4x4 at and i was wondering if there where any easy ways to gain a little bit more towing power and if it was possible to upgrade the brakes(pads) to get a little better stopping

you might gain a bit more power by doing a cold air intake and a freer flowing exhaust. Try putting on a highflow cat and a 2.5" exhaust. I noticed a bit more power when I did this to my 2000. When I tow I make sure to keep it in 3rd not Drive and everything is fine.

intake and exhaust. thats about all you can do. Or run smaller tires. For brakes check out what quadratec has to offer. I have hawk pads and slotted rotors but i never really noticed much of a difference really.

well if u are handy with tools, and have a sawzall or metal hand saw measure your muffler starting about 2 inches on each side of where the pipe meets the muffler and go to the local parts store and buy a cherry bomb or equal glass pack they sell them in multiple lengths and tell them u want one atleast as long as ur measurement and the diamater of ur stock pipe go home cut the muffler off and clamp the new one in place, and if u are really on a budget buy an spectre p4 filter from autozone for 20 bucks http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/im...ectre/8136.jpg
then u take off all ur old intake ducting and filter box and just reuse the 90 degree tube that comes off of ur throttle body and place the filter on the end of it if u want i can go take a pic of mine

Default similar towing question

I am rebuilding my 95 AW4 transmission from my XJ and if everthing goes well, I want to use my jeep to pull a uhaul across the country. My engine sounds good and runs well, but has a lot of miles (170K) on it. I bought a cold air intake, and a cat-back system, but are there anyother recommendations I should do to the engine itself?

psh, forget about CAI's and free flowing exhausts, you just need one of these:
