Jeep still won't start!! Help?

Default Jeep still won't start!! Help?

When my xj first got sick about 3 weeks ago I thought it was a electrical problem. The starter was bad so I replaced that, also replaced the battery, the alternator and alt fuses. Checked all connections ( I think) with the multi tester and everything checked out good but it still wouldnt start. So then I moved from electrical to fuel delivery as my diagnostic...found out that my dist. cap was all corroded so I replaced cap, rotor, wires, and plugs today but I still can't get it to start. Any ideas as to where I should look to next.

You need to verify a few things:
Do you have fuel pressure?
Do you have sparK?

If you have these , you need to verify compression with a guage.

Just a guess (because it is common) I am guessing no spark due to a failed crank position sensor.

Also verify injector pulse.

I havent checked compression yet, but I have no psark. I was thinking ignition coil or cps. Is there a way I can check to see if those are working?

It was running great. Nothing was going on that would be alarming. The jeep started having trouble starting...like id go to start it and it wouldnt start so Id wait 10min for it to finally start, then I started having to jump it all the time and finally it just wouldnt start so I replaced the starter and the alternator. Got it to start again by jumping it, drove it around, it ran fine, brought it back home, shut it off, tried to start it again and it wouldnt start.

Does anyone know where I can get a diagram of the cps location and also how to test the cps? How do I test my ignition coil too?

Your local auto part store sell test light or noid lights used for testing your injectors. You would unplug your injector and plug in the light and then crank your engine. If the light flashes when you are cranking it then you know that power is getting to your injectors.

You say that you have no spark so if thats true you could also pull out one of those new plugs you just put in after cranking it a few times and see if it is wet with gas.

So, I think I tested the cps right. On my multitester I put it on the 200 Ohms setting so it reads 3 digits then a decimal. I connected the black end to the B port and the red end to the C port on the CPS. The meter read 152.34. So I think my cps must be bad right? B/c the link said it should be set on the 1k to 10k ohms reading, which I put it on first and it didnt pick up anything. And so if it is reading a solid 152 then I'd assume that is not an infinite resistance like it should be, correct?

Ohmmeter should be set to 1K-to-1OK scale for this test. The meter reading should be open (infinite resistance). Replace sensor if a low resistance is indicated.

The way I read it is that it should read nothing when set to the correct 1K-to10K setting. Replace it if you think that's what the problem is.

It seems to me too that it should be reading nothing. I also pulled the code off the Jeep...code was 54--no camshaft signal detected during engine cranking. Sounds like it is defenitely the CPS. So, I've got the new one...now I'm just trying to figure out how to replace it...it is really crammed down by the bellhousing and i cant, even get a wrench in there from the top or bottom!
