Default jeep starts from solenoid

but wont start when im using the key. gone back over the wiring and as far as i can tell everythings fine, like i said the fuel pump kicks in and it clicks but it wont turn over. however when you take a screw driver and tap the solenoid it starts fine.
ideas again?

do you mean tap as in tapping on , or jumping across terms ? if you can get to start by jumping terms. than you need to adj. switch on steering col.

I have a 96 cherokee I can start it by jumping the solenoid with the key on but only works sometimes turning the key. What adj do i need fo the switch.

I had similar issue on my '93 Laredo.. bought a new key cylinder thinking that was the problem, but when removing the old one, i found the linkage was broken. Got the new piece for $20 or so. I'd suggest looking inside the column

possible ignition switch 96 was the transition year it could be behind you key or on the column by yous shins

the renix 4.0 has a starter relay beside the battery. it is a box with a bunch of wires going to it. try changing that

This or NSS may need a cleaning
