Magically fixed itself?

If you had a no spark/no start and now random sputtering, both would lean me toward the crank sensor. The more and more I catch up on the forum, this seems rather common and fits the symptoms.

I had a similar problem last night as well. Went to leave around 9 PM last night, when I went to crank the jeep it just kept turning over like it wanted to start, but nothing. If I gave it some gas it would finally start, but as soon as I let off the gas it would die again. Did this process about 4 times before it finally cranked up on its own. Drove it home, and it drove absolutely fine. This morning I went out at 5:30 to make sure it would start for work and it fired right up. Mine is a 98 sport, what year is yours?

Looks like an '88 from your profile?

MAP tube still hooked up? Ever checked the TPS or replaced the CPS?

Stupid question... but did you put the map tube back on? Is it cracked?
