Default jeep noob fluid questions

after all i'm a noob. I'm looking at replacing all my fluids. which oil and tranmission fluid do you recommend? also as for air fliter.. where is it located? lol.. i seriously need to buy self service manual for the jeep 96' cherokee sport. 4wd, 4.0 liter engine.

10w30 should work just fine for motor oil, unless you have a ton of miles on the jeep. might also want to change your differentials as well as your transfer case.

if you open your hood, your air filter is located in the front right corner, has a hose going to the throttle body.

how do I change the differentals? it has 159k miles on it?

Pull the covers and drain the fluid.

There are 10 bolts or so. Take all of them out except for the top ones, just loosen those. Giver it a whack with a mallet/or pry with a flat edge until the seal breaks loose and the fluid drains. Then pull the last few bolts, clean the mating surfaces, re-RTV and fill.

Kinda messy, but its easy. Any 75w90 will work. If you happen to have a limited slip/locker you will need an additive.
