Jeep newby
I've sort of stumbled into owning and '87 Cherokee that has a lot of PO issues. Since I don't know a lot about Jeeps, I bought a Chilton manual. This isn't the most useless manual I've ever owned, but it's on the short list.
Any suggestions for a better manual? I'm interested in the wiring, particuilarly where the wires and various electrical bits physically are in the vehicle
This thing has the Peugeot 5-speed, married to a 207 xfer case. Is replacing this whole deal with an AX15/231 a bolt up job, or is more fiddle required?
TIA
Brian

Mostly bolt up. Gotta worry about the throw out bearing size. I did the swap. I'm surprised it has the 207, mine had the 231.
The shop manual is good, it's what the dealership used. You can get it online in a pdf file.

Thanks Cruiser,, I've read and acted on a lot of what you've written, so far have restored the digital clock to operation. Only contact cleaner I could find is Radio Shack stuff, no idea of it's quality.

It's probably fine. It's the going through the motions and doing the connector and ground refreshing without getting lazy or taking shortcuts that reaps benefits.
