So my 2000 Cherokee Sport has been running fine up until this last week. I noticed that it seems to be losing power. Whenever going uphill I now have to really press to pedal to get it going, before this it was no big deal, my jeep would go up hills fine. I also noticed that when cruising around town my RPM is higher than normal and the slightest touch to the gas pedal raises my RPM. For example...when accelerating from a stop light the rpm goes all the way up to 2000 and stays there until I reach my speed. Other than this the car runs fine...i just dont know whats wrong!

may be your cat, a clogged cat can really kill an engine's power....but i wouldnt just take my guess and go out and change it, those things can be a little pricey

You know what I didn't think about? It could be the fuel pump. When I bought the jeep it had a problem where it needs to be started about 3 times before it actually "starts". It was never a big deal and Ive gotten so used the problem. Only reason I say this is because about a month ago we had it checked out and everything was fine, they checked transmission fluids and whatnot too. My dad even checked the fluid and said it was fine. Maybe the fuel pump is finally reaching its end haha. I noticed too when driving that the RPM is lower and fluctuates a bit...almost like it is about to stall. So hmmmm I'm taking it to that place tomorrow to have it checked out so I'll see what happens then!
