Default jeep with a Governor?

my jeep is governing it self at 4000 rpm only when in gear in netural or park it will go to the rev limiter over 5500 is this common or is it just me

im more concerned your reving your engine to over 5500

I feel like my engines going to blow up over 3k

but no that doesnt sound normal, clean tps?

iv had my freinds grand at 5500 to 6000 for over 2 min. but this problem is in my dd. when trying to pass someone or get in traffic in a hurry it will kick down but not go over 3500 rpm in passing gear witch is second gear at wot

I cruise down the freeway at 3000 rpm all day long (6-9 hours).

a jeep loves2500/3100 rpms

but 5300 should be the limit I know I have bounced mine off the limiter a few times.

but sounds like stated, a TPS needs to be cleaned

may i also add i only noticed this problem after modifying my exhaust i straight piped it but left the cat

i have also had the same issue but mine feels like it never goes above 2500 ever it trys to lug its self up hills wont shift down and use the power of the engine

how would you go about cleaning a tps? the contacts?
I think it is just a coincidence that this happened around the time you cut the muffler off.
and tman every jeep with an auto I have been in doesn't know what to do on a hill you gotta mash the throttle or shift to 3rd to get it to go
