Default jeep cherokee xj leaf springs dorman 929-301 vs crown 4886186AA

hi

my jeep cherokee 1997 is sagging bad....the rear leaf springs are m shaped instead of u shaped

they need to be replaced

i do not offroad at all striclty normal driving but i do use it to carry weight in the back such as tools and oither heavy items

i would like a heavy duty leaf spring not standard duty

they have crown and dorman brands for my vehcile

it seems the crown is a 7 inch arch vs 5.5 inch arch on dorman

the crown is considered heavy duty vbut not sure about the dorman

i would like to know which i would be better off buying....for durability and lasting a long time....warranty compasrison for both???

i can get dormans with bushings already in them for 104.00 free ship
crown is 79.10 without bushings bushings are about 15.00 a set

any input would be great....i dont want to make a bad decision

thank you

Get the Dormans. I got them on Amazon too. They gave me about 1 inch of lift over stock (and probably a good 2 inch over the sag I had) and I also threw on some new 2" adjustable shackles so I have roughly 4 inches of lift in the back, but I expect it to settle down to 3 inches over time.

Keep that in mind too - they will probably settle at least .5 inches over time, especially if you have weight in the back a lot of the time.

Those are "upcountry" option springs, though - so 1 inch over stock. They will bring you about 2 inches from where you're sagging at now, though.

do you know the warranty of dormans?...crown is only 1 yr....which is pretty sad

and also the crown 7 inch arch heavy duty wouldnt be more durable than the dorman 5.5 inch arch standard duty 929-301's?

my biggest concern is the dormans are only 5.5 inch arch and the crowns are 7 inch arch

to me this would mean the crowns would be heavier duty as compared to the dormans

am i incorrect?......are the crowns inferior product as compared to dormans even though they are heavy duty and dormans arent?

Thats not an outrageous price. Most shops charge around $80 and hour for labor.

Dont worry about warranties....theyre frikin leaf springs. Junkyard ones can last years and years even.

Labor costs - who knows. It's a crappy job and took a lot out of me when I did it. Was worth doing for sure, but it was probably the most work I've had to do on the XJ, epsecially since mine is an 89 from the rust belt.

dont worry about warranties?

i have heard the crowns going bad in 2 years.....if i buy dorman and they go bad in 2 years i can get brand new ones for free....i think in this case warrnaty is critical since i have a lot of weight in back of my vehcile often...

if im wrong im wrong but i think a good warranty on a part like this is very important....who wants to spend another 300.00 on leaf spring 2-3 yrs from now?...not me lol
