Default Jeep Cherokee Overhead Console Boards

Hi all,

I have seen a few folks recommend a guy on Ebay who fixes the boards for the overhead console for the older Cherokee 91-96 (compass and direction). I sent my board to him at the end of February had some intermittent contact with him but have not received the boards back yet. Has anyone else had experience with this fellow? I am wondering if just because of everything going on it is taking him longer. Has anyone else sent a board recently? The last contact I had with him was in early March and he indicated that he would have them done in a few days. I have heard nothing back from him despite sending him a few messages.

If anyone else requested the service could you let me know how long it took him to return the board and what not? Kind of frustrating I don't want to put the overhead console back in until I get the boards back.

Thanks!

Luke

How'd you pay the guy? Through eBay? Have you messaged him through eBay SEVERAL times, over the course of 2 weeks plus? If you ran all communication through eBay, start a dispute. eBay putting a hold on someone's business usually gets their attention.

Did you mail him a check? Call him at his business (home) during working hours. Cross reference his information to get the correct address and phone number. Call the police and ask them to do a welfare check to make sure he is okay. After all, you haven't heard from "your friend" for quite sometime, despite several attempts at contacting "your friend."

Hi there,

Thanks for the suggestions, yes I have messaged him probably three or four times over the last few weeks through Ebay. I paid through ebay, through paypal or whatever by card. He has good feedback online. I have his address because I sent the boards to him and found a number associated with the name and address. I've even sent a letter through mail asking to get a status. I think I'll file a case through ebay, the last message I sent him was a week ago last week. I can see he is still posting things for sale, which is frustrating to me, why can't you just send a message back and let me know what is going on? He posted something for sale last week. A bunch of people have sent their boards to him, I got his information somewhere in another thread on this forum.

The welfare check will be my last resort lol, but I thought of that too. Thanks for the suggestions!

Maybe he came down with Covid19 or something?? (not joking)

Give a few more days or a week and try again.

You should follow the Ebay/Paypal dispute mechanism guidelines, by sending him a very courteous letter advising him you intend to do that, and please forgive you if he has some covid situation etc

that is the nature of an online business, and he should put up a notice to that effect if that is the case..one would hope he is not so afflicted !

That is what I will do, I sent him a message last week (out of the 3 or four I have sent over the last month) telling him that I am concerned and if I don't receive a response I will file a case with Ebay. I feel bad if something really has happened. It's just been over a month since I heard from him. Anyhow, I'll probably file a dispute or start a case, I think they get 3 days to respond and if not Ebay will get involved. Thanks for the suggestion, this really helps! I think if nothing happens through the Ebay channel I might try and call the number I found for him online and send a certified letter.

Thanks!

If you see he is still posting stuff on eBay to run his business, I'd just start the claim through eBay. It'd appear he is ignoring you.
Whats the certified letter going to do? It will just prove someone signed for a letter at the residence / place of business. If you decide to take him to court, you will have to take him to court in the county he lives in (travel expenses for you). You'd be better off going to the Post Office where you mailed the package from & speaking with the Post Master. Show the Post Master that you have been attempting to correspond with said person, show him the fact you send him a package and you paid for his service. Prove to the Post Master that this guy isn't doing anything and tell the Post Master that you'd like to start a mail fraud case. I'd exhaust the eBay route first, before you go down the path of starting a Federal Criminal Case against someone.

Many years ago I had a bad experience with a guy on eBay along with 5 other people. We purchased items from him but no email no shipments no nothing but he was still posting stuff. Well this was years ago and don't remember what eBay (Was not a PayPal yet either) policy was but it must not of been good for the buyer or we would of just filed and got our money back. What I did was found these other people and got what they purchased how much and their addresses.

Got the guy eBay name and after googling I by chance found the same name used on another forum and came to the conclusion it was the same fellow and he had made the mistake of posting his real name and where he lived county wise in one of his posting. I found his address and his telephone number and contacted his police dept. The defective contacted each of us to get out statements along with faxes of the auctions and personally escorted the guy to the post office for money orders and we all got our money back. Sad thing was this was right before Christmas and one of the persons was a single mother who had purchased a gaming systen for her son which of course this was resolved too late for him..
