am having a jeep cherokee classic 2001 and while i was stuck on traffic this morning i suddenly lost the traction and saw a little smoke coming out of my hood
when i opened the hood i saw the transmission oil coming out from the deepstick and overheating
sir what would be the problem?
just to have an idea about this problem before i see a mechanic

Do you have any other mechanical, cooling or transmission issues? Motor running hot? Fluid at the proper level? Trans vent @ the top of the bellhousing clear?
In any case, I'd replace the trans fluid if it's overheated, that destroys it's lubricating qualities.

If the trans is over-filled the rotating parts will whip air into the fluid. Let this continue long enough the fluid will either escape through the vent or if plugged the fill tube. Check the level first. Park on a level surface, parking brake on, engine idling & at operating tempurature.
